"Have you seen all the birds flying south for the winter?"
"Yeah, the solstice is almost here!"
"So is our winter break!"
"I don't think all those birds are gonna make it to the south before the blizzard forecasts hit."
"Don't worry. They're wild animals! They can hibernate, right?"
"I dunno, but I'm afraid WE have to soon. It's too cold to play outside now!"
"What's it LIKE down in the south, anyway?"

Teacher: I'm glad you asked, class! The south, aka Southern Hemisphere, is literally the polar opposite of our Northern Hemisphere! That means the Southern half of the world is having Summer, while OUR half of the world is having winter right now!
Student: Bummer, now I'm jealous! ...Can we read a summer poem to get a taste of that Southern Winter?
Teacher: You're in luck! For today, I have an anonymous poem poster from right off the wall of town from a few months ago about a summer bird... Enjoy!

Hope this poem warms your spirits this cold winter, and don't forget to dress warmly and drink some hot cocoa, too!
BRIIIINNNNNNNNNGGGG!!
...That's it for today! See you next week for our final poem before winter break! It's a Christmas poem, so you won't want to miss it!
