Welcome back, students, and happy Easter Monday!

April Fool! Easter was YESTERDAY!

Teacher: Actually, this one's no joke. Easter Sunday may have been yesterday, and April Fool's day may be today, but there actually IS a day known as Easter Monday. It’s written on calendars sometimes!

Student: Oh!

Teacher: But speaking of April Fool’s day, today’s poem will give you just the jokes to give to your friends today in case you haven’t come up with any April Fool’s jokes yet!

The poem is called, “Oh Have You Heard”, and it was written by Shel Silverstein in 1974 in his bestselling book “Where the Sidewalk Ends”.

Oh Have You Heard - Shel Silverstein, 1974, Where the Sidewalk Ends, page 75

Oh have you heard it's time for vaccinations?

I think someone put salt in your tea.

They're giving us eleven-month vacations.

And Florida has sunk into the sea.

Oh have you heard the President has measles?

The principal has just burned down the school.

Your hair is full of ants and purple weasels—

APRIL FOOL!

...Enjoy spreading around that poem today, and have a Happy Easter Monday! ...Class dismissed!
