Here's the WW1 Flying Ace, home from the Aerodrome. He and his men have all been put on indefinite leave, for the Great Pumpkin island had been shut down; and with it the Aerodrome itself.
Although the young pilot is happy to finally catch a break from soldier duty, he is dismayed that he can never go back. He is very sad, not only that his favorite island and his Aerodrome are gone; but that his dear brother Spike never got to come and see any of it before it went away!
...But Spike lives in the desert; much too far away to have been able to visit. Even the Ace's trusty Sopwith Camel wasn't enough to make the round trip to take him there.
...But then he got an idea! ...If Spike couldn't visit him, then he could visit Spike! And since Spike knows not what the Great Pumpkin Island was like, he can share with him some photos of the good times he had there with his very good friend Invisible Ring.
So, with the precious pictures in his possession, the WW1 Flying Ace packs his bag for his trip to the desert. And all the while, he hopes that Spike will enjoy his visit and his souvenirs... And that Spike's friend Joe Cactus will enjoy 'em, too.
