Avast, ye Mateys! Have ya ever wondered why September 19th is the day we scalliwag-lovers start talkin' like Captain Jack Sparrow?
...What if I told ya sea-dogs that it all started with a game of racquetball in 1995? -I bet you'd think I be talkin' about the "Pirates who Don't Do Anything", wouldn't you?
Nay, I be talkin' about a sports injury between 2 racquetball players named Summers and Baur. When one of them got hurt, they yelled "AAARRRGH!" ...Just like a pirate!
These scalliwags bold decided they LIKED this pirate-talk, and started talking like a pirate EVERY year! ...But they needed a day they could remember for their annual Talk-like-a-pirate day, so they chose Summers' ex-wife's birthday, September 19th.
...Then in 2002, Baur and Summers shared their inside joke with a humor collumnist named Dave Barry, who spread the news of Talk-like-a-Pirate day to the REST of the world... and that's why we be talkin' like pirates on this day, too! ...YO-HO-HO!
